Washing your favorite hoodie may seem like a simple task, but there are a few tricks to ensure it stays cozy and retains its vibrant colors.
In this guide, we'll show you two easy methods to clean your hoodie: using a washing machine and washing it by hand.

Method 1: Using a Washing Machine

Check the Label: Before anything else, check the care label on your hoodie. Most cotton or cotton-blend hoodies are washing machine friendly, but if it's made of wool, it's best to take it to the dry cleaners to prevent damage.

Turn it Inside Out: Zip up any zippers and turn your hoodie inside out. This not only cleans the inside but also protects the outside's finish. Don't forget to pull the hood and sleeves out of the middle of the garment for a thorough clean.

Wash with Similar Colors: To avoid color transfer, wash your hoodie with items of a similar color. Avoid washing it with towels to prevent lint from sticking.

Use Cold Water and Mild Detergent: Opt for cold water and mild detergent to preserve your hoodie's appearance. Hot water can cause shrinkage. Check the care tag for detergent recommendations and choose the delicate cycle for safety.

Method 2: Washing the Hoodie by Hand

Prepare Cold Water: Find a bucket or sink large enough to accommodate your hoodie. Fill it with cold water. Be prepared for some water to spill, so choose an appropriate area.

Apply Mild Soap or Shampoo: Use a bar of soap or a damp cloth with body wash or shampoo to gently rub the inside and outside of your hoodie. Apply the soap above the bucket for easy cleanup.

Rinse with Cold Water: Wipe away visible soap or shampoo, ensuring no residue remains. You can dunk the hoodie in the water multiple times to ensure thorough rinsing.

Drying Your Hoodie

Remove Excess Water: Gently press the hoodie between two towels to remove excess soap and water. Avoid twisting or wringing the hoodie to prevent damage. Place the hoodie on a towel to avoid water spreading.

Roll it Up: Lay the hoodie flat on a dry towel with its sleeves at its sides. Roll up the towel from the bottom with the hoodie on top, then press down to squeeze out more water. Use a towel larger than the hoodie for effective drying.

Air-Dry: Finally, lay the hoodie on a separate towel, allowing it to air-dry overnight. Avoid using a dryer, as it can shrink cotton clothes and fade their colors over time.

By following these steps, you'll keep your hoodie looking fresh and cozy for many more wearings to come. Enjoy your clean, comfortable hoodie!
